The Ferrahian High School
The Ferrahian High School is an Armenian-American private school located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California, United States. From 1964 to 1967 Sara Chitjian would go to the Ferrahian School to teach new math every day after completing her full day of teaching at Manlux Elementary. New math was an accelerated math program developed in response to Russia’s Sputnick program. There were approximately 10 students per class ranging from the 4th and 5th grade. These were some of Sara’s most enjoyable years. The principal trusted and gave Sara freedom to teach in the way she believed and showed her excellent teaching techniques that she would end up using for her entire career. His name was Sid Carp, he was a big positive influence for Sara Chitjian.
